All classes are scheduled at the center, located at 45-539 Plumeria St. in Honokaa.
Introduction to Drawing and Painting will be presented by graphic designer Kellie Miyazu. She will cover everything from the basics to composing dynamic and active compositions and creating a personal portfolio.
Classes are scheduled from 9 a.m.-noon each Saturday, beginning this weekend, June 6, through Aug. 1 (except July 4). Art supplies are included. Tuition is $140.
Instructor Jeani Navaro brings more than 30 years of grant writing experience to Basic Grant Writing. This introductory course teaches participants how to write a compelling statement of need and what funders are looking for in grant proposals.
The one-day workshop is slated for 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturday, June 13. Tuition is $75.
Instructors Navarro, Dr. Jan Brencick and Cecilia Adams will co-teach a Personal Caregiver Training Certification Course covering the history of the caregiver profession that provides current training in key areas such as health and safety, personal care, use of equipment and body mechanics. This comprehensive course is designed for those working as personal assistants or direct service workers with special needs youth and adults, and meets Hawaii Department of Health standards for staff training.
Classes are 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturdays from June 20-Aug. 1 (except July 4). Tuition is $150.
Electrician and experienced solar installer James Wells will teach participants how to design their own solar electric system for their home or farm in Introduction to Photovoltaic Design and Engineering. The course also covers basic electricity and safety standards, national electric codes and includes a certificate upon completion.
Classes are 6-8 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays from July 7–Aug. 27. Tuition is $150.
Advanced Grant Writing with Jeani Navarro builds on the skills learned in Basic Grant Writing by providing a more in-depth understanding of the criteria funders use to fund or reject a proposal. Participants who bring a grant proposal draft will receive individualized editing assistance prior to submission.
The one-day workshop is 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturday, July 11. Tuition is $75.
